Protocol for In Person Gatherings at David’s United Church of Christ during COVID 19

PHASE ONE: FOUR WEEKS OF STATE MANDATED COUNTY ALERT LEVEL TWO OR ONE IN FRANKLIN AND FAIRFIELD COUNTIES

SUNDAY WORSHIP:

  • Worship attendees are strongly encouraged to pre-register for worship. 
  • Enter the building through front doors only (Columbus Street). Wheelchair accessible entrance will be available until the ramp to the sanctuary is completed. 
  • Temperature checks at the front door with an infrared thermometer. Those with temperatures over 100 will be given a special blessing and asked to return home. 
  • Only fifty chairs will be available for seating in the sanctuary; they will be spaced six feet apart.
  • Observe one-way traffic into the Sanctuary. Enter through center aisle, leave via side aisle
  • At the end of the service exit one row at a time
  • There will be no offering during the service. The offering station will be available at the entrance to the sanctuary.
  • There will be no bulletins. The order of service will be on the screens. 
  • Hymnals and Bibles will be removed from the chairs. 
  • There will be no passing of the peace or children’s time during worship. 
  • Masks will be required to attend worship. Church members are requested to bring their own masks from home. One-time use masks will be available for those who arrive without a mask. Masks should be worn over the nose and mouth.
  • There will be no refreshments in the fellowship hall following worship. Those wishing to socialize may do so outside on the church lawn or parking lot, while observing social distancing. 
  • No Sunday School/Holy Moly will be held for children. For younger children, activity packets will be available for pickup and use during worship. 
  • Holy Communion, when offered, will be with individually packaged elements. 
  • Worship will be live-streamed and available through davidsucc.net, Facebook and Youtube. 
  • Anyone who is sick or immuno-compromised is encouraged to worship from home.
  • Anyone unable to comply, in order to help keep everyone safe, will be asked to worship online. 

DURING THE WEEK:

  • No large gatherings will be held in Fellowship Hall
  • Small Groups – The library and Upper Room will be available for small group gatherings. Participants are expected to social distance and wear face masks. Each group must sanitize the room following their meeting. 
  • Small groups may continue to meet online at the discretion of their leaders. 
  • Committee meetings will continue to meet via Zoom. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be mounted on stands throughout the building.
  • No-touch soap dispensers and air dryers are available in the first floor hallway restrooms. 
  • Sanitation supplies will be available in each restroom for cleaning after use. 
  • The church building will not be rented to outside groups at this time. 
  • Funerals may take place in the church building following social distancing guidelines. No funeral meals will be provided. 
  • Church staff will continue to work from their homes. 

PHASE TWO: EIGHT WEEKS OF STATE MANDATED COUNTY ALERT LEVEL ONE IN FRANKLIN AND FAIRFIELD COUNTIES

SUNDAY WORSHIP:

  • Enter the building through front doors only. Additional entrances will be locked.
  • Up to 100 chairs will be available in the sanctuary, abiding by social distancing guidelines from the county and CDC. 
  • Observe one-way traffic into the Sanctuary. Enter through center aisle, leave via side aisle
  • There will be no offering during the service. The offering station will be available at the entrance to the sanctuary.
  • There will be no bulletins. The order of service will be on the screens. 
  • Hymnals and Bibles will be removed from the chairs.
